Sagebrush and Spines

A grown-up book fair in Eastern Washington

Saturday, May 15, 2027 · 11 to 5 · Gesa Carousel of Dreams, Kennewick, WA

Free and open to everyone

For the reader who drove to Seattle for a signing and drove home the same night.

For the one who keeps a list on her phone of authors she’d go see if they ever came here.

For the writers east of the mountains who’ve been told their readers live somewhere else.

For whoever bought a second copy because the first got lent out and never came back.

For anyone who’d rather spend a Saturday wandering between tables of books than almost anywhere, and then ride the carousel on the way out.

This one’s for you.

You can also follow @folkloresocietywa on Instagram for news about the fair.

Authors

If you write and you live somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, we want to hear from you. Tables for authors are free. Writers from the Tri-Cities get the first look, and we’re aiming for a mix of indie and traditionally published authors across new adult and adult fiction. Join the interest list and tick Author, and we’ll confirm spots and send details as soon as we know how many tables the room holds.

Vendors and bookstores

Bookish vendors and independent bookstores are welcome. Tables are for sellers whose main product is bookish, things like candles, bookmarks, stickers, bookshelf decor. If books aren’t the point of what you make, this isn’t the fair for you. Tables are $25, collected once your spot is confirmed. Tick Bookstore or Vendor on the interest list and tell us what you’d bring.

Volunteers

We need help with setup the morning of, the welcome table, keeping authors in coffee and company, the raffle table, and breakdown at the end. Tick Volunteer on the interest list and we’ll be in touch with times.

Help us make it special

If you’d like to help us make the day a little more special for the writers making the drive, this is the place for that, and anyone who gives $50 or more gets their name on the sign at the door. There’ll be a raffle on the day too, with every ticket going to the Author Fund.

If your business would like to sponsor the fair, email hello@folkloresocietywa.org and we’ll send over the details. Sponsorships start at $250, and there’s room for one title sponsor whose name goes on the fair itself.

Good to know

The fair runs from 11 to 5 on Saturday, May 15, 2027, at the Gesa Carousel of Dreams, 2901 Southridge Blvd, Kennewick. Admission is free and so is parking. Along with the authors there’ll be a few independent bookstores and bookish vendors, and the carousel will be running all day for anyone who wants a ride, with tickets a few dollars at the window. The concession stand will be open, and there’s no bar at this one. Kids are welcome, though keep in mind the authors write for grown-up readers.
